Hilary of Aquileia

We don’t know when Saint Hilary of Aquileia, was born.  He was the second Bishop of Aquileia, a city in northeastern Italy. He followed Bishop Hermagoras.

During the persecution of Numerian, Bishop Hilary was asked to sacrifice to the pagan god.  He refused and instead prayed for the collapse of the pagan temples in Aquileia. Hilary was tortured to death, along with his deacon Tatianus, and their companions Felix, Largus, and Dionysius.  They died March 16, 284.
